NEWS:

A record 3,067 students entered the 2006 Young Southern Student Writers Contest!

Winners and their families received medals in a special ceremony at the Tivoli Theatre on March 30.

Awards Ceremonies:

Grades K-5:

For Teachers

The Arts & Education Council believes that the arts can be woven into every school subject and grade level to improve students' critical thinking and listening skills, as well as broaden students' perspectives on the world they live in. The arts can also be used to reach standards and benchmarks set by the school system.


One goal of the Arts & Education Council is to provide teachers with the means to incorporate arts and humanities into their classrooms and core curriculum through workshops, resources, residencies, and programming (see below).

RESIDENCIES:

Guest writers visit area schools to work with a classroom of students. The AEC provides copies of the authors' works in advance.

The next opportunity for residencies is during the Chattanooga Festival of Writers on March 31, 2022. Hamilton County high schools are eligible.
