This frank documentary gives an in-depth look at the torture practices of the United States in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay. The story of a young, innocent taxi driver in Afghanistan who was tortured and killed in 2002 provides the framework for Gibney’s examination of unprecedented U.S. government policies that include a rejection of the Geneva Conventions. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature, as well as five additional wins and two nominations.
