Loaded with dark humor and bizarre twists, this Spanish science fiction thriller follows a middle-aged simple man named Hector who accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour. A series of disasters and unforseeable consequences follow, and Hector must fight his double and his triple self as he tries to save the woman he loves. Writer, director and actor Vigalondo masterfully plays with the audience's expectations and preconceptions. The script is wonderfully economical but also plotted with weblike intricacy, making for a satisfying ride that also raises big questions about the very nature of time travel.
