What is Arts Advocacy?

According to Tennesseans for the Arts, the state's leading arts advocacy organization, advocacy is

...something that all of us should do if we believe in the value of public support for the arts.

...building familiarity and trust with our elected officials.

...providing reliable information to our elected officials.

...offering a personal perspective where public policy decisions are made.

AEC's advocacy efforts include

  • Participating in Arts Advocacy Day

  • Writing legislators to let them know about grants we receive from the Tennessee Arts Commission, and thank them for their support of TAC.

  • Always crediting the Tennessee Arts Commission and other agencies that provide funding and assistance to AEC.
  • Promoting the purchase of specialty license plates to generate funding for the Tennessee Arts Commission.
