Lee Smith has published 11 novels and three collections of short stories. She is a former Lyndhurst Prize winner, Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Award recipient, and winner of the 1991 Fellowship of Southern Writers’ Robert Penn Warren Award for Fiction. She received the Academy Award in Literature in 1999 from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Smith’s newest novels are The Last Girls and On Agate Hill.
