This adaptation of the beautiful tale by Hans Christian Andersen encourages use of the audience's imagination and incorporates some basic elements of Chinese theatre - a very exciting style!

When the Emperor discovers that the greatest treasure of the Orient if a nightingale, he demands that the bird be brought to the palace to sing for him. The Emperor is enchanted with the drab little bird, for her music is more beautiful than any of his treasures. But upon receiving a new toy bird, the Emperor soon forgets about the nightingale. Nevertheless, when the mechanical bird breaks down and the Emperor is dying from sadness, the nightingale returns to the palace to heal him with her songs.
