MONROE K. SPEARS (1916-1998) wrote The Poetry of W.H. Auden, The Disenchanted Island, Hart Crane, American Ambitions and a collection of poems, The Levitator. He was an editor of The Sewanee Review and served as Moody Professor of English at Rice University.
