FRED CHAPPELL has been awarded the Aiken Taylor Prize in American poetry, the T. S. Eliot Prize of the Ingersoll Foundation, and the Bollingen Prize in poetry. His latest novel is Farewell, I'm Bound to Leave You, his latest poetry, Spring Garden, his latest nonfiction, A Way of Happening: Observations of Contemporary Poetry. He is poet laureate of North Carolina.
