CLEANTH BROOKS (1904-1994) wrote many works of criticism, including The Well Wrought Urn, Modern Poetry and the Tradition, William Faulkner: The Yoknapatawpha Country, A Shaping Joy, and The Language of the American South. With Robert Penn Warren he founded The Southern Review and wrote Understanding Poetry and Understanding Fiction. He was a founder and the first Chancellor of the Fellowship of Southern Writers. |
