R.H.W. DILLARD
— recipient of the 2003 Fellowship of Southern Writer's
Hanes Prize for Poetry—is a native of Virginia and the author
of six volumes of poetry (most recently Just Here, Just Now,
and Sallies), two novels, a collection of short fiction,
two critical monographs, and translations of plays by Aristophanes
and Plautus. He received the 1994 O.B. Hardison, Jr. Prize of
the Folger Shakespeare Library, and the Council for the Advancement
and Support of Education named him the Virginia Professor of the
Year and Naional Silver Medallist in 1987. He is the longtime
director of the Hollins University Creative Writing Program. |
