Fellowship of Southern Writers

BOBBIE ANN MASON

-- member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers -- was born in Mayfield, Kentucky. She received an M.A. from SUNY-Binghamton, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut. Her first book of fiction, Shiloh and Other Stories, was published in 1982 and received the Ernest Hemingway Award in 1983. Other works include In Countrym, Clear Springs, Zigzagging Down a Wild Trail, Spence + Lila, and Elvis Presley. She has a new novel due in fall 2004 from Random House. Mason has received National Endowment for the Arts and Guggenheim Fellowships. She is writer-in-residence at the University of Kentucky.
