BLYDEN JACKSON (1910-2000)

Jackson began his career as a high school English teacher and went on to become dean of the graduate school of Southern University before joining the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of The Waiting Years, The History of Afro-American Literature, and co-author of Black Poetry in America. He was also a contributing editor to The History of Southern Literature.
