AEC is happy to announce that the next three films in the Independent Film Series will be The Way Back, Cedar Rapids, and Biutiful, all of which will be showing at the Majestic 12.

The Way Back, directed by Peter Weir, is inspired by true events and based on "The Long Walk" by Slawomire Rawicz. This epic tale narrates the escape of POWs from a Siberian prison camp in 1940 and their 4,000 mile long journey to freedom. Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, and Colin Farrell all take leading roles in this film, coming to Chattanooga on Friday, March 3.

The following Friday, March 11, Cedar Rapids starring Ed Helms and directed by Miguel Arteta will hit the theater. This Sundance film comedy follows naïve insurance agent Tim Lippe as he travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for an insurance convention and his life changes irrevocably.

The third film, Biutiful, is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and is Oscar nominated for best foreign language film and best leading actor for Javier Bardem's performance. Set in Barcelona, it is the journey of Uxbal, a conflicted man who struggles to reconcile fatherhood, love, spirituality, crime, guilt, and mortality and is coming to Chattanooga March 18.

The films will play at the Majestic 12 Theatre, 311 Broad Street. Call 423-826-2375 or check local listings for showtimes.
