HENRY
TAYLOR is Professor of Literature and Co-Director of the MFA
Program in Creative Writing at American University in Washington, DC.
He is the author of five books of poems: The
Horse Show at Midnight, An
Afternoon of Pocket Billiards, The
Flying Change, Understanding Fiction: Poems 1986-1996, and
Brief Candles: 101 Clerihews. He
has also published a collection of essays on recent American poets, Compulsory Figures, and translations of Greek and Roman classical
drama.
He has received the Pulitzer
Prize in Poetry, Fellowships in Creative Writing for the National
Endowment for the Arts, and the Witter Bynner Prize of the American
Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
